If you caught the trailer for next week's Made In Chelsea, then you know that Tom Zanetti is about to return to the house. The DJ made a brief appearance earlier in the series as Sophie Hermann's partner, but fans will be delighted to know that he's back to spend more time with the Chelsea crew. The pair are seen kissing in the trailer, which leads Sophie to joke with Grazia that she's 'dreading' watching it back - even if that moment was 'quite romantic'.
As viewers know, it's never plain sailing in Chelsea, and arguments are always just around the corner for couples whether it's Reza and Ruby, or Emily and Harvey. Speaking to Grazia, Sophie explains why - and how - the dynamic of relationships change in the house, especially after a tumultuous year for everyone.
'A year and a half of the pandemic has definitely played a big role into this,' she says. 'This is really a time where you make it or you break it. And this also raises some questions about the future, are you going into the same direction, and things like that, but then on top of all of that, moving into the boarding school nobody signed up for is just a peak of everything. Not to mention having some quite aggressive other cast members around. I believe a lot in energies and if you're surrounded by that, that can affect your own relationship and your own mood.'
So, how did living in the house impact her relationship with Tom? 'I wouldn't call it a relationship anyway,' Sophie says matter-of-factly. 'We have never defined anything because we only had the time to see each other for a short amount of time. It was nice to see him again, and to actually be able to hang out. I was lucky because I have my own living quarters called the Hovel, and the others were obviously all sharing and yeah, that's not for me. It was nice, every morning we woke up with this beautiful view, so it was quite romantic. It was like a little getaway - that was sweet.'
Since getting together on Celebs Go Dating, Sophie and the DJ have garnered a huge fan following - with the couple even spawning their own fan accounts. Why does she think they continue to be so popular? ' It's a shocker to me as well,' she says. 'I guess maybe because people want the fairytale, and with us, maybe this time it's a bit like reversed. Not that he's Cinderella! It's very like Lady and the Tramp, and Aristocats is where our pet names - [the Duchess and Thomas O Malley] - came from. So I think people just wanted something to believe in these shitty times and I guess we gave it to them. And it also showed like you know that attraction has no classism.'
But drama could be on its way for Sophie, as when asked who surprises her in the next few episodes, she simply replies, 'Tom'. Teasing the next episodes, she says for viewers to expect 'blood, sweat and tears.' Oh, and she compares it to the Game of Thrones finale, so there's definitely going to be fireworks. 'Every emotion you can have is going to be exaggerated and heightened times 20,000 times - it's very much like the final Game of Thrones episode, like a dance of fire and ice.'
