Just like British summer time is rarely very summery, previously cuddly-looking TV presenters will suddenly go creepy and all the toothpaste will remain inaccessible at the bottom of the tube while the top of the tube is all scrunched up, it is now a mundane fact of life that child stars will always go wayward.

Take, for instance, Macaulay Culkin, the Home Alone star-turned singer, who now has a Velvet Underground tribute band called the Pizza Underground. However, as radical as the band sounds, his tour of Britain is going down as well as banana-curry pizza with an additional ham topping.

He was booed off of stage while performing at Nottingham’s Dot To Dot festival at Rock City. Not only that, but him and his bandmates were also pelted with pints of beer.

‘Why are you throwing those?’ Macaulay asked the crowd, adding: ‘I’d rather drink them.’

The BBC reports the band performed for just 15 minutes before being forced to leave the stage, and they later Tweeted: ‘Thank you so much Nottingham. Sorry that a couple people ruined it for everyone.’

It's almost worth noting that people weren't necessarily at Rock City to see the band, as other acts like Peace, Drenge and Wolf Alice also took the stage on the same night.

However, their bad reputation exceeds that one gig – they also had a bad reaction from a Manchester crowd, as Macaulay was forced to storm off of stage after his kazoo solo was interrupted, reportsThe Metro.

Oh, Macaulay, we rememeber when you were that really cute little milky-pale boy who played Richie Rich and Kevin McAllister. You seemed to be so self aware. Where did it all go wrong?
