After meeting in the villa in June and coupling up a few days later, Love Island couple Jessica Shears and Dom Lever have announced their engagement via a spread in OK! Magazine.
Speaking to OK!, Dom, 26, said 'After the first week of being back in the UK I knew I was going to marry her'. After putting a ring on it within about three months of meeting, 24-year-old Jess added that she can see why people might say they're rushing things, but it 'feels like I've known Dom a lifetime' - aww. She spoke about where they'd like to marry, saying 'We'd like to do it abroad, either in the south of France or somewhere in Greece like Santorini. We don't want a big wedding, I only want our close family and friends there because, to me, that is what your wedding day is all about.'
'Before I went on Love Island I would have judged someone for proposing this quickly, but spending so much time together in the villa has really cemented my feelings for Jess', Dom told OK!.
Jess, who has been engaged before, also shared details of Dom's romantic proposal in London in early September. While they were staying in an apartment in London before the TV Choice awards, Jess says that Dom filled the apartment with flowers and had got them a bottle of champagne. She was busy doing a Snapchat video to show her fans how lucky she felt, when Dom called her out onto the terrace and got down on one knee - and she said yes.
The news comes after the the happy couple, notorious for their very frequent sponsored Instagram posts, got matching tattoos in July - palm trees inside a love heart with the other's first initial underneath, to signify how they fell in love on the island - and have now moved in together. Dom told Caroline Flack on Love Island - Aftersun back when the show was running that they plan to 'buy in Manchester and rent in London' as their bases, and has now posted a cute pic of the pair outside their first house together.
Jess was evicted from the villa shortly into the third week of the show after being voted out by the other housemates, which left Dom devastated and soon spawned rumours of Jess and fellow evictee Mike Thalassitis sleeping together on the night of their dumping from the show. Both parties denied being unfaithful, and Dom and Jess confirmed they were a couple in the outside world soon after Dom's Love Island exit.
This isn't the first *Love Island *engagement: last year's runner-up couple Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland have set a date for their upcoming wedding after getting engaged on a trip to New York. Series 1 couple Hannah Elizabeth and Jon Clark got engaged on TV while still in the villa, but the engagement was called off shortly after.
