Over the past few weeks, it seems like anyone who's appeared on reality TV within the past ten years has been holidaying in Dubai - as if the deadly coronavirus pandemic hasn't been getting continually worse. Hordes of the Love Island/TOWIE/Geordie Shore cast have been posting swimwear pictures on the beach on Instagram, with many of them then explaining on Instagram stories that they were travelling for work. In fact, so many influencers have travelled out there that it's become a bit of a national joke, with Dubai now being dubbed by the internet as 'the London borough of Dubai'.

Even Jedward got involved, tweeting before Christmas: 'Love Islanders do more travelling around the world in a pandemic than Santa Claus but super happy they are also getting home for that Christmas Content.' (They added in another tweet: 'Info for influencers promoting Dubai! It has Coronavirus but doesn’t have rights for LGBTQ+ so please stop promoting countries where it’s criminal to kiss the one you love!')

Within the past few days, there have been headlines about Dubai pictures being posted by Love Island's Jess Gale, Joanna Chimonides, Shaughna Phillips and Geordie Shore's Chloe Ferry.

But maybe we now won't be seeing as many holiday pictures - as last night it was announced that the UAE, the federation of states which Dubai belongs to, has been taken off the UK's travel corridor list - meaning those arriving back from Dubai will now have to self-isolate. Cases have risen so sharply in the area that the UK government said they made the decision 'immediately'. 'The decision has been made following a significant acceleration in the number of imported cases, along with the number of reported new cases over the past seven days, which have risen in the UAE by 52%,' a statement for the Department of Transport said.

Predictably, the internet had a lot to say about it when the news was announced - here are some of the funniest reactions below.
