Unsurprisingly, Love Island has smashed its previous ratings, accumulating over six million viewers for the Casa Amor fall-out episode. According to BBC News - in figures collected by ratings body Barb - more than 4.7 million people watched the July 3 episode on TV sets, while another 1.4 million saw it on their phones, PCs and tablets. In comparison, only 4.3 million watched last year’s final on TV.
It was only beaten in that week's ratings by the Women's World Cup semi-finaland Coronation Street. Predictably, the July 3 episode was the programme where the groups where reunited, following their tumultuous time in seperate villas.
In last night’s episode, Joanna left the villa - and was left angry that Michael didn’t leave with her, branding him a ‘fking snake’. Joanna gave him an ultimatum, saying, ‘If you found what you want then you better leave mate. But you clearly aren't so you're a fking snake.’ Viewers have claimed producers engineered the split so Michael can end up back with Amber. One tweeted, 'Shocking how @LoveIsland have fixed that. Talk about managing the story line...#LoveIsland #fix #whatsthepoint.' Another said, 'Surely this Micheal thing is a fix? It’s what everyone wanted to happen.' Maura and Curtis also finally got together, leaving the professional dancer to let Francesca down gently. When making his decision between the girls, he told Maura, 'I’ve made my decision. Every single conversation we have had…I feel myself getting drawn closer and closer and closer to you.’
