Even though there are now hundreds of contestants, being on Love Island is no doubt a unique experience. It’s no wonder, then, that ex-contestants, who weren’t even on the same series, sometimes end up dating each other. While most of our love lives have been put on hold owing to lockdown, a hot new Love Island couple seems to have emerged: Luke M - the Justin Bieber lookalike from last series - and Lucie Donlan, the girl who originally tried to make the word ‘bev’ a thing, are now apparently an item.
The pair are thought to have taken a mini break when lockdown eased, as The Sun pointed out they have been taking pictures from the same location. 'They were messaging each other over Instagram during lockdown and as the rules relaxed their romance blossomed,' a source told The Sun Online. 'Luke wasn't single for long after he split with his ex Demi and Lucie is his dream woman - he can't believe his luck.'
Luke was dating Demi Jones after they met on the last series, but apparently their relationship - which was never made official - crumbled over quarantine as he wasn’t putting in enough effort to text her when they were living across the country from one another. ‘We've completely called it off now, I think it was brought about more from his behalf than mine, but we're mutual and friendly,’ Demi told MailOnline. ‘I feel like there wasn't a lot of effort made with communication, so we drifted as a result. It's a shame and bad timing.’ Lucie, you’ll remember, was dating The Sandwich Man Joe Garratt who she met on last year’s series - but they split at the beginning of this year.
