It turns out former Love Island contestant Alexandra Cane is asking the same question as all of us following the reveal of this year’sline-up: where is the body diversity? The long-awaited line-up for Casa Amor was unveiled yesterday - but one of the first things we’ve all noticed is that all of the girls teeny tiny.
Reacting to the cast photos, Alexandra tweeted, ‘Where the curvy girls at?’ And her feelings were shared by Love Island 2016 star Malin, who said, ‘And I thought they would have some diversity. Meh.’
The Independent reported that the programme had answered repeated calls for body diversity by recruiting Anna Vakili, who they have called plus-sized. But viewers have been far more skeptical, with one tweeting, ‘Trying to search for someone bigger than a size 10. Pretty disappointed tbf. Don’t get me wrong all the girls are stunning! But we were promised different body types,yet they all look pretty skinny! Show some diversity!! Teach girls it’s okay to be different.’
Fans have also pointed out that Jada Sezer was nowhere to be seen in the first cast picture, even though the size 16 model was heavily reported to be joining the series. She tweeted, 'Sorry guys, unfortunately I won’t be going on Love Island. Diversity is so much bigger then seeing one ‘plus size’ girl on tv. We should all be seen! 🙏🏼 But good luck to all contestants!'
