Louise Thompson appears to have tacitly responded to the news that her brother, Sam Thompson has allegedly split from Zara McDermott. The former Made in Chelsea star, who was close to the couple, and lives next door to them in London, hinted that her friendship with Zara would continue in spite of her shock separation from Sam after five years together.

After Louise Thompson posted on Instagram about her ‘bury and burn’ ritual, following ‘one of the best and worst years’ of her life, one follower commented, ‘Hope you don’t just drop Zara’ and Louise, 34, responded by 'liking' the comment. While Sam and Zara have yet to comment publicly on the rumours, another follower added, ‘Liking this comment has basically confirmed the split for us all!!’

Louise and Zara, 28, have a close relationship. As well as being neighbours, they have also holidayed together, going to Ibiza last year.

Zara praised Louise for opening up about her stoma and health battles with her colon and peritonitis. 'I take my hat off to her. Every single day she shows how strong she is. She's the strongest person I know,' she said in an interview.

'I don't know anyone else who's been thrown that much unfortunateness. Still having a smile on her face. She really is just an inspiration to so many women. I don't know how I would have coped if I would have gone through what she's gone through.'

However, Louise’s ’like’ comes after she reportedly advised Sam against getting back with Zara after her infidelity in 2019. She cheated on him with music exec Brahim Fourad when she appeared on Celebrity X Factor, a storyline that played out on Made In Chelsea.

‘They never really recovered from Zara’s cheating, most couples would have struggled lasting for as long as they did afterwards,’ a source told MailOnline. ‘Zara had some big making up to do, especially with Louise, she really wasn’t happy when Sam took her back. But she managed to make it work and they had some great times together again, but it just felt like it was never going to be truly serious.’

Zara admitted that she was surprised that her relationship with Sam was rekindled. ‘When it happened I genuinely thought that me and Sam were going to break up, inevitably,’ she told Jamie Laing on Made in Chelsea in 2022. ‘I just thought we were hanging on by a tiny thread and we’re going to break up.’

While Sam and Zara haven't confirmed a split, a source close to the couple said the pair have officially broken up after drifting apart, despite working hard on their relationship for a year. The source told MailOnline, ‘Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It's been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other. But after a tough year of working hard at their romance, they have split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025.’

The couple were last seen together in December celebrating Zara's birthday, when Sam also dedicated an Instagram post to his girlfriend, calling her his 'soulmate' and 'best friend'.

But the pair spent New Year's Eve separately, with Sam celebrating with his former Made in Chelsea co-stars Reza Amiri-Garroussi and Josh Patterson at London's Kensington Roof Gardens, while Zara stayed at home.
