The cast of Friends are famous for being just as close off-screen as they were on, but new comments from Lisa Kudrow (aka Phoebe) reveal that some of their guest stars weren't nearly as pleasant to deal with.

Speaking to host Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, the star explained that she was subject to some misogynistic comments about her appearance from one famous co-star - but worry not, it certainly wasn't Matt LeBlanc (Joey), Matthew Perry (Chandler) or David Schwimmer (Ross).

The comments in question, instead, came from a high profile actor who had a cameo appearance on the show during its ten year run, and were to do with Kudrow choosing not to wear make-up during Friends' extensive rehearsals (so she could spend more time, you know, learning her lines and practising her killer comic timing rather than sitting in a stylist's chair).

'I rehearsed without make-up for most of the week. And then, on show night, I'm in hair and make-up and I was told, 'Oh wow, now you're - can I say it?' she said, breaking off to ask Cohen whether it would be OK to recreate her cast mate's unpleasant turn of phrase on TV. With his assent, she continued:

'Now you're f--kable.' Ugh.

While the presenter pressed her to reveal the guest star's identity, Lisa chose to keep that secret under wraps, only confirming that it wasn't Charlie Sheen, who memorably appears as Phoebe's boyfriend Ryan in 'The One With the Chicken Pox.'

Throughout its ten seasons, Friends attracted plenty of well-known actors as special guests, including George Clooney, Bruce Willis, Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin, Ben Stiller, Freddie Prinze Jr and - memorably - Jennifer Aniston's then-husband, Brad Pitt.

Actress Jennifer Beals, who joined Lisa on the show, said: 'That's bad behaviour, I say. How did you retaliate?'

Lisa's response? 'I told Matt LeBlanc,' she laughed. 'He's like a big brother.' We're glad to see that the Phoebe-Joey camaraderie (the most under-rated of Friends friendships) existed off-screen, too.
