Lindsay Lohan has announced she is pregnant with her first child.

The actress and singer, 36, broke the exciting news that she and husband Bader Shammas are going to be parents to TMZ, saying, 'We are very excited for our new family member to arrive and we are looking forward to this next chapter of our lives.'

Lindsay also took to Instagram to tell her 12.4m Instagram followers the milestone news, writing, 'We are blessed and excited!' alongside a baby grow bearing the words, 'coming soon'.

Within the first ten minutes of the post going up, it had racked up over 40,000 likes and was flooded with congratulatory messages.

Lindsay and financier Bader were first linked in February 2020, just before the pandemic hit. They got engaged in November 2021 and eight months later, in July 2022, a rep confirmed they had tied the knot after Lindsay referred to him as her 'husband' on her Instagram birthday post.

It is not known when the couple are expected to welcome their bundle of joy but fans have joked they love the baby already.

The happy news comes after a source told Hollywood Life last August that the couple were ready to start a family.

'Lindsay and Bader have obviously talked about starting a family and it is something that they both want,' the source told the outlet. 'Lindsay is finally at a place in her life where she can raise a baby. She wanted a baby before she had met Bader and she has talked openly about wanting to adopt.'

Lindsay's career began as a young girl, securing her breakthrough role in The Parent Trap aged 11. But amid her growing sought-after status, the film star was also struggling with a host of personal issues at the height of her fame. She often hit headlines for frequent legal issues, court appearances and stints in rehab.

But her career has got back on track in recent months. She starred in Netflix's Falling for Christmas last year and is set to appear in another of the streaming platform's projects, Irish Wish, this year.

In a rare insight into her personal life, Lindsay told Cosmopolitan last October about how grateful she is to have a support network.

She said, 'I have an amazing husband, who's a very calm person. Just the best. And my family.

'And I feel like I have a small group of good friends who are just really good people. That's the only support that I really need: friends, family, and loved ones.'
