The classic 2003 body-swap comedy sees Lindsay's grumpy teenager swap lives with her harassed psychiatrist mother (Jamie Lee Curtis). Lindsay as a 45-year-old in a teenager's body, negotiating high school and boyfriends, is perfect casting.

In the most 2004 thing to ever happen, 17-year-old Lindsay hosted the MTV Movie Awards, during which she performed a hip-hop dance routine, before picking up the award for Breakthrough Actress for Freaky Friday.

Lindsay starred as Cady Heron in the 2004 film (written by Tina Fey) that is still the most quotable - and memeable - comedy of recent years. Although the best lines belong to Rachel McAdams as chief mean girl Regina George ('Boo, you whore' and 'Get in loser, we're going shopping'), Lindsay was the emotional heart of the film.

As Lindsay's private life became tabloid fodder, she released a single, Rumours, which was all about how hard it is to have fun in the club when your every move becomes a gossip story. The lyrics - 'Why would you want to bring me down? / I'm only having fun' - seem slightly heartbreaking now that we've all learned what young female stars were put through in that era.

Some dubbed the 2006 image of none-more-noughties icons Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, in a car with Lindsay, The Holy Trinity. But this image of Paris and Lindsay flanking Karl Lagerfeld in the same year is the most iconic trio in our humble opinion.

In 2013, when many were dismissing Lindsay as a drugs and booze-addled former child star, she did a tell-all interview with Oprah. Talking of her addictions, Oprah asked 'what are you on now?' Lindsay's side-eye, followed by the abrupt reply of 'vitamins' became an iconic meme.

Last month, Lindsay poked fun at her former party girl reputation with a Planet Fitness advert that aired during the Super Bowl. The ad shows her working out and sleeping well, while paparazzi cry outside a nightclub, missing their bankable star.

Her first major role in over a decade is starring in Netflix romcom, Falling For Christmas, which will launch late 2022. She has since signed on for two more Netflix films, heralding a long-overdue return to acting.
