Having recently admitted he will always worry about daughter Lily-Rose, Johnny Depp has now talked about the health scare she suffered age seven, which rocked his family back in 2007.
Speaking on the Graham Norton Show, Johnny discussed why he loves dressing up as his Pirates of the Carribean character to visit children in hospital.
"For me it's a gift. They give me the gift," he said, before going on to recall "When my daughter was ill in Great Ormond Street it was the darkest period of my life. I'd always done these visits but after that experience the visits became more and more important."
"The kids are so courageous but to be able to bring a smile or a giggle to the parents means everything in the world to me," he added.
Now 16 and making waves in the acting and modelling worlds, Lily-Rose was hospitalised for nine days in 2007 after contracting an E. Coli infection that caused kidney failure. Johnny subsequently donated £2 million to Great Ormand Street Hospital in gratitude for his daughter's successful treatment.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Johnny said he's always worry about Lily. "No matter how grown up she gets, I'll never stop worrying about her. It's a father-daughter thing.
"She's got a sensible head on her shoulders, and I trust her to lead a sensible, responsible life, but I can't ever see the day coming when I just switch off to let her make her own way in the world."
