He’s bagged a Golden Globe and a SAG Award, scored his first BAFTA and eaten raw bison liver, but will Leonardo diCaprio complete his awards season sweep and finally walk away with an Oscar next weekend?

We’ve had our fingers crossed for our long-time favourite since the Academy Awards nominations were announced last month, and now The Revenant star’s quest for that elusive Oscar has been transformed into a hilariously retro – and worryingly addictive – video game, Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage.

Prepare to start battering your keyboard and seriously irritating your office neighbours – the game, which is the work of British animation collective The Line, allows you to play as a tiny (and not very flattering) pixelated Leo avatar, desperately pressing keys to race down the red carpet as an Oscar statuette flies out of sight.

This 8-bit Oscar journey is far from easy, though, and with plenty of obstacles inspired by moments from diCaprio’s career, Red Carpet Rampage is (dare we say it) a lot more action packed than The Revenant itself… There are photographers to dodge, rogue icebergs ready to scupper your progress and a clutch of Best Actor rivals to contend with - look out for cameos from a spacesuit-clad Matt Damon, Eddie Redmayne as The Danish Girl and Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs mode. There’s even an appearance from Lady Gaga (remember that Golden Globes meme?)

Desperately searching for more Leo-based procrastination options? If you have an iPhone, you can use the MSQRD app to morph your face into a terrifyingly accurate likeness of Mr DiCaprio, framed by a pair of golden Oscars statuettes. Hooray for the twenty first century!
