Um, Leonardo DiCaprio First Met His Current Girlfriend When She Was 10

It's no secret that Leonardo DiCaprio has a tendency to date younger women. He has never publicly dated anyone older than 25. So the fact that he's currently in a relationship with 22-year-old actor Camila Morrone isn't a shock.

Apart from the fact, that is, that he first met Morrone when she was 10 years old and he was in his early thirties.

Morrone is the step-daughter of Al Pacino, which is how DiCaprio was introduced to her as a child. Admittedly there's no suggestion that they knew each other well at this point. But still, it's a little uncomfortable, right?

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times yesterday, Morrone acknowledged that there was a significant age gap between her and her boyfriend, saying: 'There’s so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps... I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.'

Back in July, when she posted a photo of Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart on her Instagram, writing underneath the picture 'a love like this', people quickly assumed that she was clapping back at the critique of her relationship. Not least because Bacall and Bogart had a 25-year-age gap. However, in her interview with the LA Times she claims that's not the case.

She tells the LA Times that she is hopeful that in the future her career will be the public focus, not her love life, saying: 'I think more and more now that people are seeing the film, I’m slowly getting an identity outside of that,' she said. 'Which is frustrating, because I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating. ... I understand the association, but I’m confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation.'

While it's difficult to ignore that Morrone is the latest in a long line of very young, very beautiful women who DiCaprio has dated, perhaps it's unfair to dwell on it excessively.
