Leonardo ‘boo boo’ DiCaprio has been splashing some serious dollar while in Cannes this last week. Attending the Heart Fund’s Generous People Dinner Gala, Dicaprio dropped $18,000 (approx £12,000) on a glittering, limited edition Chanel bag.
So who was the lucky woman on the receiving end of this spendy gift? His number one girl, his dear mum, Irmelin Indenbirken. Cue the ahhs.
This isn’t the first time DiCaprio has treated his mum to a bit of Chanel. Last year the actor outbid Paris Hilton for a $11,300 Chanel handbag for Irmelin at the very same charity gala.
And the star isn’t shy of showing his affection for his mother in public. DiCaprio has been spotted on the red carpet with his mum multiple times, and at this year’s BAFTA’s he dedicated his Best Actor award (for The Revenant) to her.
"I didn't grow up in a life of privilege. I grew up in a tough neighbourhood in east Los Angeles and this woman drove me three hours every day to a different school to make sure I had a different opportunity. To my mother, it's her birthday today, this is for you," DiCaprio told the audience.
