Lena Dunham's production company are making a documentary about Bindle & Keep, a bespoke tailoring company based in Brooklyn that's super-popular with the LGBTQ community (the Q is for 'Questioning' btw, it's a new addition to the LGBT acronym).
The documentary, being made for HBO, is set to follow some of Bindle & Keep's transgender customers as they go through the process of having custom suits made, looking at how this affects clients with complex gender identities.

Bindle cater for a wide range of customers: from gay couples about to get married right through to high-profile cast members of Orange Is The New Black. The founder and owner, Daniel Friedman, has a fascinating story too; seven years ago, he lost the ability to read and write, forcing him to quit his job as an architect and use the skills he had left - hand and visual skills - to make custom clothing. Having never been diagnosed, while casually mentioning the phenomenon to a customer, they responded: 'Daniel, you've got Lyme disease.'
In terms of the clothes, Friedman and co have made every possible effort to accommodate all kinds of body and gender identity, looking at those who are underrepresented in the fashion industry. While the staff are predominantly straight, they cater to a larger gay and transgender community.
Lena and Jenni Konner from Girls will act as executive producers on the project which is being directed by Jason Benjamin (*Girls, OITNB) ***with Bob Richman as cinematographer (The September Issue). Can't wait.
