Lena Dunham has spoken candidly about overcoming her addiction to prescription drugs. The actress admitted that she 'didn't want to live' at one point in an interview with Cosmopolitan, where she also revealed how she has been single for the past 14 months.

'One day, I looked around and I was lying in a bed in my parents' apartment under two blankets, in the same pyjamas I'd been in for three days, and I was like, "This isn't me",' she told the magazine. 'It wasn't that I was suicidal. I felt nothing. I didn't want to live.’

Lena was struggling with the addiction while recovering from a hysterectomy (to relieve the symptoms of endometriosis), dealing with fibromyalgia, as well as connective-tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Speaking about her love-life, she added that she doesn’t mind that she’s missed out sex on for the past year. ‘People right now will go, "Oh my god, you haven't had sex in over a year,' and I'm like, 'No, actually it's been the most healing thing."’ (Lena was dating musician Jack Antonoff, but they split in December 2017 after five-and-a-half years of dating.)

Last year, Lena lived in Wales while she was filming her new series Industry - and, as well as becoming a fan of Love Island, she became also became an admirer of a TV national treasure Holly Willoughby, heralding her a 'rad chick'. ‘I turn on This Morning and I just love watching her. It’s like the greatest hug from the television,' she said. 'I like that she’s funny, she’s real, and she’ll tear up if something makes her emotional, she’ll laugh really hard, and she’ll talk about getting drunk. She’s just a rad chick.’ Praise indeed.
