Well, an executive producer for the HBO series was also in tow…

Almost a year to the day that Katie Holmes got people doing their best WTF faces by going for dinner with esteemed feminist academic Gloria Steinem, she's been seen having dinner with another feminist icon, albeit one a few years younger – Lena Dunham!

The* Dawson's Creek*-turned-theatre actress and Lena were spotted at Osteria Morini in Soho, New York, eating 'crostini and cappelletti with truffle parmigiano' according to the New York Post. Either the weather over there was just as summery as it was over here, or there was a conflict in wine choices (the classic red versus white tussle) and so they compromised and washed the whole thing down with rosé wine. Just FYI, The New York Post reports they also had tea.

The pair weren't alone at the dinner, they were joined by* Girls* executive producer Jenni Konner, which got us thinking that the meeting must have been related to getting Katie on board with the show. Maybe she could play an older cousin of Marnie's; we could so believe that. Or she could be a future boss for Hannah, or, more likely, Marnie, Jessa or Shoshanna – from the looks of last series, we don't think Hannah's getting a normal job again any time soon.

Or it's an entirely different project they're working on, or maybe they're all just pals. Regardless, we hope Suri's getting in on the act. That's one celebrity child we want to see on the show, if not simply for that wardrobe.

The only thing putting a dampener on the possibility that Katie might join the show is that her and Lena don't follow each other on Twitter… But who needs Twitter when you've got pasta to bond over, right?
