There was a lot of talk about nudity

Last night saw Lena Dunham take on hosting duties on Saturday Night Live for the first time and – according to those people paid to pass judgment about such things on the internet – it was a resounding success.

In Lena’s opening monologue she talked about what it was like to live in a world where everyone’s seen her naked. ‘If you’re nervous about giving a speech, just picture the audience naked, or at least imagine that your audience hasn’t seen you naked.’ She joked before going on to reveal that people now feel overly comfortable revealing their deepest, darkest sexploits to her. Cue Bobby Moyniham coming to ask whether his balls were normal.

Arguably the best bit of the whole thing though was the trailer SNL made for the prequel to* Girls* – an epic biblical tale called Girl about the original girl on the earth; Eve – oh, and her boyfriend Adam. And guess what? It seems that even in biblical times, Hannah Horvath has got some qualms about being a woman, like is she Adam’s only Eve? ‘I just like, wanna know what we’re even doing here, are we like, man and wife or is this a situation where there’s like loads of other girls and I’m going to find out from one of the animals?’ To which Taran Killam playing Adam replied, ‘What are you talking about? You’re like a part of me, literally, God made you from my rib kid.’

Elsewhere in other sketches she took a turn starring in Kerry Washington’s* Scandal*, played a girl that had just hit puberty, and showed up later on as Liza Minelli because, why not?
