Lamar Odom, who remains in hosital after being found unconscious earlier this month, is reportedly in need of a kidney transplant.

Us Weekly are reporting that the ex-NBA star is "definitely" in need of a transplant, after TMZ broke the news that Odom is suffering from major kidney failure. Odom underwent emergency surgery connected to pneumonia on Wednesday, and is reportedly still on dialysis because his kidneys aren’t properly functioning.

A source told *Us *that Lamar is making a slight recovery -

"He can say a few words...He's doing a tiny bit better, but he has a very long road back to full recovery - if that." But a brain injury is "of concern", caused by the strokes he experienced when rushed to hospital.

They added: "The doctors just don't know the extent of all the damage yet. There are still a lot of tests that need to be done."

According to new reports, Rob Kardashian could be willing to donate a kidney to save his brother-in-law's life. “Rob is willing to do whatever it takes to help Lamar recover. If that means donating a kidney then so be it, Rob has a big heart and he’s willing to step up to help his friend,” a source told the Daily Mail. While Rob is yet to comment on the claims and it isn't known whether Lamar and Rob have a match according to the source, “Rob is willing to undergo medical tests to find out".

Nye County Sheriff's Department also released Lamar's blood test results, revealing he had cocaine in his system when he was discovered in a Nevada brothel.

Khloe Kardashian has released her first official statement about Lamar Odom, after the ex-NBA star was hospitalized following a suspected drug overdose.

Writing on her website, Khloe spoke out thanking her friends, family and fans for support, and said that "incredible strides" had been made, after Lamar reportedly woke from a four-day coma.

"The past week has been incredibly difficult...I am so thankful to family, friends, and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work. Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made. You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure. Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!!"

The Kardashian family have already released a statement saying that they were holding off publishing content on their apps while they continue to "pray for Lamar", and a rep for the family also told* Us Weekly* that they had asked the owner of the brothel where Lamar was found, Dennis Hof, to respect their privacy and stop giving interviews to the press.

"We reached out to Dennis," the statement read. "Politely asking him to respect Lamar’s (and Khloe’s) privacy during this difficult time, and refrain from talking to the press. This is a very painful situation, as I know you are aware, and the idea that anyone would use it to seek publicity is really sad."

TMZ are also reporting that Khloe has 'split' from her current boyfriend, James Harden, putting their romance on hold during this difficult time.

Lamar Odom, the ex-NBA player and reality star, is being treated in hospital after being tragically found unconscious at a brothel in Nevada, authorities have said.

BBC News have reported that police were called to Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada, after Lamar was found unresponsive on Tuesday.

He was driven to hospital because he is too tall to be airlifted in a helicopter, and is currently in Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, but his condition is unknown.

Dennis Hof, the owner of the Love Ranch and other legal brothels in Nevada, told The Associated Press that his staff had picked up Odom from a home in Las Vegas on Saturday, and that "He just wanted to get away, have a good time and relax."

Lamar was apparently “happy, he was sleeping every night” while visiting, but Hof reports that two women went to check on Odom Tuesday afternoon and found him face down and unconscious.

Hof said Odom had been taking herbal Viagra and had drunk part of a bottle of cognac since arriving, but had no knowledge of his use of any other drugs.

Odom has played basketball for Miami, the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers and Dallas. He also famously married to Khloe Kardashian, but they divorced in 2013. He has long struggled with alcohol and drug addiction problems and was suspended from the NBA for violating its anti-drug policy in 2000.

Various celebrities have tweeted their support, from Modern Family star Ariel Winter to Gabrielle Union.

Khloe Kardashian has not yet commented on the news, but People magazine report that she instantly flew to Las Vegas to be by Lamar's side, while Kylie Jenner cancelled a live stream she was running from her new app when she heard the news. Kendall Jenner tweeted "please don't go" this afternoon.
