Chromatica is here! The world is going crazy for Lady Gaga's fantastic new album, which features collaborations with Elton John, Blackpink and Ariana Grande. The latter track - Rain On Me - dropped earlier this month, and we couldn’t have needed it more. The pop smash certainly hasn’t disappointed (trust me, there were high expectations) with fans and critics loving the euphoric track about heartbreak.

While Gaga and Ari are the dream collaboration, speaking with Zane Lowe, Gaga revealed that the pair didn’t automatically become friends. That wasn't because they didn't like each other, or anything like that, but the A Star Is Born actress says she was ‘too ashamed' to get close to Ari. The singer also said she was affected by Ariana's ability to heal from events like the 2017 bombing at her Manchester concert and ex Mac Miller's death the year later.

'When she came into the studio, I was still crying and she was not,' she said on Apple Music. 'And she was like, "You're going to be OK. Call me; here's my number." And she was so persistent. She would try over and over again to be friends with me. And I was too ashamed to hang out with her because I didn't want to project all of this negativity onto something that was healing and so beautiful.' She continued: 'And eventually she called me on my s***. She was like, "You're hiding." And I was like, "I am hiding. I'm totally hiding." And then this friendship blossomed.'

Happily, the pair are now friends, with Ari sharing a photoshopped selfie of the pair before the single’s release. 'This isn’t real,’ she wrote, ‘but f*** me i love it so much. I love u, u incredible, unstoppable woman @ladygaga. [sic]’ She also wrote a touching tribute on Instagram, which said Gaga immediately ‘felt like a sister’ to her. ‘one time ..... i met a woman who knew pain the same way i did,' she wrote, 'who cried as much as i did, drank as much wine as i did, ate as much pasta as i did and who’s heart was bigger than her whole body. she immediately felt like a sister to me. she then held my hand and invited me into the beautiful world of chromatica and together, we got to express how beautiful and healing it feels to mothafinnnn cry. [sic]’

'One time I felt like I was crying so much it would never stop,’ Gaga shared on Instagram. ‘Instead of fighting it, I thought bring it on, I can do hard things. @arianagrande I love you for your strength and friendship. Let’s show them what we’ve got.'
