Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 at the age of 36 and her entire life was put on hold.

Not only was she scared for her future, but the star's career drew to a halt when she was forced to bow out of her Glastonbury festival performance slot she had been booked to play the same year.

Fortunately Kylie overcame the disease after having surgery just four days after diagnosis and a course of chemotherapy that felt like a 'nuclear bomb' - but despite the happy ending, what happened still affects her life today.

Speaking to Sunday Times Style, the singer revealed that her battle with cancer left her unable to have children.

"I was 36 when I had my diagnosis (breast cancer)," she said. "Realistically, you’re getting to the late side of things."

Kylie then added, "While that wasn’t on my agenda at the time, it changed everything."

It would be very easy for the star to be angry or resentful over what happened, but she doesn't let herself.

The former Neighbours actress said, "I don’t want to dwell on it, obviously, but I wonder what that would have been like. Everyone will say there are options, but I don’t know.

"I’m 50 now, and I’m more at ease with my life. I can’t say there are no regrets, but it would be very hard for me to move on if I classed that as a regret, so I just have to be as philosophical about it as I can. You’ve got to accept where you are and get on with it."

It seems Kylie is in a great place now, after finding love with GQ's Creative Director Paul Solomons and being given a second chance to perform at Glastonbury.

The star gushed, "All these years have passed and I was thinking, 'well I guess that’s never going to happen for me, I missed the boat on that.'

"Then bang, I was offered the Legends slot which is incredibly exciting to me."
