Kristen Wiig has reportedly become a mum to twins via surrogate. According to People, the Bridesmaids actress welcomed twins with fiancé Avi Rothman earlier this year - but the couple are yet to confirm the news, as Kristen and Avi have kept their relationship fairly low profile since they were first seen together in 2016.
However, the 46-year-old hinted that she’d become a mum during a special At Home episode of Saturday Night Live for Mother’s Day in the US last month, when she thanked her mother Laurie Johnston for ‘preparing me to be a mom myself’. ‘This is the Mother’s Day show, and at SNL, it’s a very special time to celebrate moms,’ the actress said. ‘Unfortunately, probably like a lot of you, I can’t be with my mom on this Mother’s Day. So I hope it’s OK, I would like to tell her I love her.' She then hinted that she was 'grateful' for her mum's advice. 'I don’t know if I truly appreciated my mom the first 45 years of my life,' she said. 'But this year I’m feeling especially grateful for her advice, her love. I’m so thankful for all the things she’s taught me, like preparing to be a mom myself. Things like breastfeeding…’
Rothman is a writer, actor, producer and director who has seen short films debut at WILDsound Film Festival, and the pair both trained at the iconic Groundlings theatre in Los Angeles. Kristen was previously married to actor Hayes Hargrove from 2005 until 2009, and dated The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti. Kristen and Avi decided to get engaged in August 2019.
Kristen told Look magazine in 2013 that she'd love to have a family. 'I don’t have a specific stance on marriage,' she said. 'I think it’s right for some people, and I know a lot of people who didn’t believe in it, then they met someone. I’d like to have a family. I would love to have kids.’
