UPDATE: Kristen's mum Jules now denies ever talking to* The Sunday Mirror about Kristen*, but their journalist plans to release audio of the interview. Until then, it looks like the 'galpal' label is here to stay.
Kristen Stewart’s mum has dropped the absolute bombshell (if a bombshell were as flimsy as the edible paper on a Flying Saucer sweet) that her daughter ‘loves women and men’. We’re not too surprised – after all, she’s been photographed doing all manner of totally normal couply things with Alicia Cargile for the past, well, ages. And they’ve got matching tattoos.
Kristen’s mum Jules Stewart confirmed the ‘rumours’, telling The Sunday Mirror: ‘What’s not to be accepting about her now having a girlfriend? She’s happy.
‘She’s my daughter, I’m just her mom so she knows I would accept her choices. I’ve met Kristen’s new girlfriend, I like her. What’s not to accept? She’s a lovely girl.’
She added: ‘I feel like people need to be free to love whoever they want. I accept my daughter loves women and men. It’s OK to be who you are in my world. We all choose our friends so we should be free to choose our lovers.’
Continuing – we kind of hope she was answering questions because otherwise it seems a little grasping by this point – she said: ‘People are good to do whatever they like as long as they’re not hurting people or breaking the law.
‘I have gay friends, family members, I’m accepting of people, we are all free to choose who we want to love.’
It’s fantastic that Kristen’s mum is so accepting, but we wonder if Kristen might be a little pissed off that her mum’s outed her. After all, Kristen’s had plenty of opportunities to out herself, like when paparazzi screamed ‘YOU’RE GAY’ at her, yet she’s just kept schtum. And these things aren’t really anybody else’s place to say.
But, perhaps, now that Kristen is ‘out’, a few things might change for the better.
Firstly, tabloids, who’re torn between wanting to make a salacious point about hot lesbian sex without outing Kristen - because that would be immora - might just give up the ‘GAL-PALS’ tag they’ve given Kristen and Alicia as a nudge-nudge, wink-wink get-out.
Secondly, Alicia’s job title might be cleared up. She’s described as Kristen’s ‘personal assistant’ or ‘former personal assistant’ but according to her LinkedIn she works as a visual effects producer? Maybe she’s too busy in love to update her LinkedIn, though. We can’t imagine it being a top priority when you get to have sex with a Hollywood actress.
Thirdly, maybe people will stop trying to make Kristen being jealous of ex Robert Pattinson’s relationship with FKA twigs 'a thing'. However, you can bet there’ll be people – Twihards and conservatives alike – who’ll cling onto any semblance of hope that the former couple might reuinte after Kristen’s mum added: ‘I’m very sad that Kristen and Robert didn’t have a chance to be alone together, they had to have the whole world with them and all the public stuff ruined everything, life became overwhelming.’
Fingers crossed people take that as a gentle reminder to let Kristen get on with dating whoever she likes before their scrutiny ruins yet another one of her relationships. After all, Kristen’s battled her demons by practicing martial arts – and you do not wanna mess with that.
