She's not the most talkative of sorts, especially when it comes to her laidback fashion sense, but Kristen Stewart has given a rare interview about her appearance. First up, she wants to get ‘a total boy cut, completely – not a pretty, girly version – like a straight up James Dean haircut.’ A slicked-back Teddy-Boy ‘do won't sate her appetite for extreme hair, though, because she’d like to take it much further: ‘I’m definitely going to shave my head before I die. I will definitely tattoo my head while it’s shaved… I’m not sure which part, probably the bottom quadrant in the back.’
Though it’s totally up to her what she does with her hair, we’re vying for her to go all-out Jessie J/Britney Spears/Liam Gallagher and get her entire head done, not least because the shaved side-panel thing jumped the shark way back when Willow Smith did it, and that shaving-the-lower-back-section-of-your-head-to-make-way-for-a-tattoo is very Lady Gaga circa 2012. See?
That said, Kristen’s got to put her career before her vanities, and that’s why she’s refused to do anything too wacky with her bonce thus far. ‘I, personally, want to stay neutral so that I’m in a perfect position to, it sounds lame, but to transform myself for a role,’ she explained to Into The Gloss.
Her make-up routine is pretty tame, though she admitted that she favours a Topshop eyeliner because ‘that’s cheap, so I’ll get, like, five of them’ (how ridiculously normal!) so much she will rarely wash it off. ‘If I’m being responsible, I’ll wash my face, but I never take off my eyeliner or my mascara.’ (Don't do it kids! Think of the sheets!)
She retains her blemish-free skin by using Justin Bieber, Jessica Simpson and Katy Perry’s favourite skincare range, ProActiv. ‘I feel like I’m a total spokesperson for them, because it really did help me and I’m always telling people… but I can’t imagine doing one of their commercials. I don’t think they’d want me, to be honest.’
This laid-back routine is potentially down to her history as a bit of a tomboy. ‘When I was 14 or 15, you couldn’t tell the difference between me and my brothers. I looked like a boy, fully.’
But this tomboy-ish inclination doesn’t put her off of wearing big-name designers on the red carpet, such as Balenciaga, even though her scowly face might have had us think otherwise. ‘I really like extremes… I’m a total tomboy, but at the same time, when I pull out all the stops, I want to fucking go for it. It’s tough to integrate that type of thing into your life. But when you can do it, wear something unexpected, with your personal style – it’s incredibly badass.’ Not that she cares about what we think about her looks: ‘As long as I feel solid about my creative choices, people can have whatever image or perception of me that they’d like.’
OK, now that is pretty badass.
