Kristen Stewart Says ‘There’s No One Way To Be A Feminist’

Which means it's totally okay for us to point out just how banging she looks in the photoshoot for this interview…

Sometimes we get a little bored of celebrities having to qualify their feminism. Instead of asking actresses and pop stars about their possible plans to have babies, it's now the cliché for interviewers to ask a woman if she's a feminist.

If she says yes? People pick apart her previous behaviour, complaining that you can't be feminist if you wore next to nothing that one time/swear/sleep around/go to strip clubs/don't represent all women/whatever. If she says no? people get angry, 'But she's a role model!' The shame is, it kind of detracts from pushing women forward and very sadly, their feminist status is used as a stick to beat them with in a way that just doesn't happen with blokes.

That's why Kristen Stewart's pretty successfully straddled the debate. Speaking about Hollywood's inclination to give women minor supporting roles to men's leads, she explained: 'It's silly to play the devil's advocate when having a conversation about female roles in Hollywood, because then you're doing this "reverse feminism" thing that has become weirdly trendy recently.'

'I feel like some girls around my age are less inclined to say "Of course I'm a feminist, and of course I believe in equal rights for men and women", because there are implications that go along with the word feminist that they feel are too in-your-face or aggressive,' she told Wonderland

'A lot of girls nowadays are like "Eww, I'm not like that". They don't get that there's no one particular way you have to be in order to stand for all of the things feminism stands for.'

Here, here, Kristen. And because feminism allows for choice and for celebration of other women, we would love to say that you look so incredibly hot in the Wonderland photoshoot, (shot by Hedi Slimane, who's basically an expert in bringing out the moody-sexy in people), that we haven't really any more words than this: wow.
