The last time Victoria Beckham moved to the US with her husband David and her children, they were welcomed with open arms to LA. Tom Cruise even threw them a welcome party, with Will Smith among the A-Listers who showed up to say hello. Several years later, though, Victoria has chosen a new base: Miami. She and David have been in Miami, Florida of late - David owns a football team there - and in recent days Victoria marked her 47th birthday with a party attended by stars including Pharrell Williams, Maluma and Kim Kardashian. To our knowledge, this was the first time Victoria and Kim crossed paths, although they were naturally on each other's radars previously: Kim had been a Spice Girls fan - more on that later - and had worn dresses designed by Victoria several times. There were reports in 2014 that Victoria had declined to create a gown for Kim's wedding to Kanye West, but this is thought to have been mere hearsay.
For their first known face to face meeting, the pair were both in attendance at an event celebrating Victoria's beauty collaboration with Violet Grey, held in Beverly Hills. Hosted by Cassandra Grey, the brand's founder, Victoria - a vision in white - was the guest of honour and posed for pictures with Kim and her sister Kourtney.

Victoria clearly made a good impression on Kim, because only a month later she was sending her gifts. Victoria took to Instagram to show her appreciation for some goodies from Kim's Skims collection, giving them her seal of approval.
'So Kim has just sent me some of her Skims and I have to say I've already tried the bra,' she said. 'I was really impressed with it. It's super comfortable, very flattering. I ordered some more. I also love how this is so inclusive. Lots of different colours of this shapewear. Which I think is really great. I'm impressed. I'm looking forward to trying the other pieces. Thank you so much Kim.'

Victoria returned the favour two months later, sending some gifts as soon as she heard that Kim was in London with Kanye. 'Oh my god my fairy godmother. I feel so lucky. How insane are these new Victoria Beckham boots she sent over to the hotel?' she explained, showing off the electric blue peep toe heels from one of Victoria's previous collections.
'Look at this you guys. You know I love me some Victoria Beckham beauty products and this new serum that she did, I just tried and it's amazing, along with her cream and her primer. I got the best goodies thank you Victoria!'

Their blossoming friendship isn't just about gifts. They clearly bonded over some good old-fashioned nostalgia too.
In the summer of 2020, Kim got her sisters together to dress in outfits that were very reminiscent of the Spice Girls. Victoria shared one of the resulting images as an Instagram story. 'Kim, which one is Posh?' she joked. Kim was even casually invited to replace Victoria for their 2021 25th anniversary activity, when Emma Bunton - aka Baby Spice - noticed that Kim was a fan. 'Now in the week I was sitting on the sofa, as you do, scrolling through Instagram, when I came across a picture of Kim Kardashian with her hair in pigtails and the caption saying "Baby Spice",' she told listeners of her Heart radio show.
'I mean, I nearly spat my tea out. Kim, I was thinking, ok so this year it’s the Spice Girls’ 25th anniversary and we definitely can’t have two Baby Spices in the band, I’m afraid not, but I’m sure the girls wouldn’t mind you joining?'

With lockdown putting an end to opportunities for a nice gal pal lunch, the pair's friendship was on ice for months. But this new meeting suggests that it's all good to go. Surely we're bound to see them out and about together again soon?
Would it be so much to ask that Victoria make a cameo in Kim's next reality TV venture? We can but dream.
