Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have announced that their third child, a daughter born via gestational carrier, will be named Chicago, perhaps in a nod to the city where Kanye grew up and began to pursue his musical career.
As with Chicago (or 'Chi' for short)'s older siblings, North and Saint, it's thought that the third addition to the Kardashian-West family will not have a middle name.
Kim confirmed the happy news through a post to her app (where else?) on Tuesday afternoon, writing that 'Kanye and I are delighted to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl.' Their daughter weighed 7lbs 6oz upon arrival.
She went on to thank her surrogate and the medical staff, adding that she and her husband 'are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.'

'North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister,' she concluded her post, which she later tweeted with the messages 'She's here!' and 'We are so in love.'
In another recent statement, Kim broke down the difference between using a 'surrogate' (the phrase which had widely been used in reports of this third pregnancy) and using a 'gestational carrier,' explaining how use of the latter means that the child is 'biologically mine and Kanye's.'
'Having a gestational carrier is definitely different, but anyone who says or thinks it's the easy way out is completely wrong,' she wrote.
'People assume it's better because you don't have to deal with the physical changes, pain or complications with delivery, but for me it was so hard to not carry my own child, especially after I carried North and Saint.'
After several months of speculation, Kim confirmed the news of the third pregnancy in an episode of *Keeping Up With The Kardashians (again - where else?). *Speaking to her younger sister Khloe on FaceTime, Kim proudly revealed 'We're having a baby!'

Kim's pregnancy struggles have been well-documented throughout her reality TV show. She suffered from a rare condition called placenta accreta during her first two pregnancies, which led to her first born North West arriving prematurely. During the series, she's been seen investigating other options, after discovering that she's unlikely to be able to bring a third baby to term.
Discussing her experiences of expecting her third child via a surrogate, Kim told ET: 'You know, it is really different. Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong. I think it is so much harder to go through it this way, because you are not really in control.'
Clearly, any problems along the way were worth it for Kim and Kanye. Congratulations to the happy couple!
