It's the selfie saga that won't go away and now more fuel has been added to the fire.
Following Kim Kardashian's 'When you're like I have nothing to wear LOL' naked selfie – the one she posted last month which was met with a fierce backlash (more on the story below) – Kim decided to post another yesterday, this time recruiting 24-year-old model/actress Emily Ratajkowski to help get her message across.
And what was this message? Well, her finger gesture pretty much sums it up.
Emily went on to explain the stunt more extensively, taking to Twitter to express her views:
Emily was, in fact, one of the first celebrities to show support for Kim in the wake of the selfie media storm, posting her own naked snap to Instagram, captioned: 'What to wear tonight? #PFW [Paris Fashion Week]'
The reality TV star and mother of two, Kim, responded by sending flowers to the American model, which Emily duly documented via Instagram.
Judging by the far more muted reaction to this new naked snap, we're hoping it's the last we'll hear about it.
Well, until the next time Kim decides to break the net.
On 9th March we wrote...
Another year, another 'break the internet' picture from Kim Kardashian. This one, rather like the last, has sent the internet into virtual meltdown. What to make of it?
Should we be shocked that a wife and mother decided to post a naked picture of herself to social media? Or should we respect that, as she wrote on her website, she feels 'empowered by her body'?
Let's look at what happened and try to find out...
It was just an average Monday morning, when suddenly this sent the Twittersphere into hurricane mode:
So far, so Kim K.
Then what happened? A legion of celebrities took to Twitter to condemn the reality TV star.
Such A-listers as Academy Award winner Bette Midler...
Piers Morgan (who not only repeatedly tweeted about it, but even wrote an article for the Daily Mail on the saga)...
Also, 19-year-old actress Chloë Grace Moretz who wrote this:
Surprisingly, Kim – who usually maintains radio silence when it comes to negative feedback to her posts – decided to retaliate.
To Bette Midler, she wrote:
And then...
To Piers Morgan she said:
And most surprisingly of all, to Chloë Grace Moretz:
It all sorta reeks of Kanye (known for his rants on Twitter, particularly in recent months).
In and amongst the furore, she even posted a reference to her incalcuable wealth, indictating how – in one fell swoop – she could easily clear her husband's alleged $53million debts, presumably to remind critics exactly how much such antics have benefitted her in the past... (let's take a moment to remember that 'Break the Internet' shot for Paper magazine in 2014 for instance).
Then yesterday, Kim took to her website to explain why she did it:
'I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me.'
