Kim Kardashian Cried All The Way Home After 2013 Met Gala

Kim Kardashian's outfits hit headlines almost daily, so she's no stranger to attention. But despite being lauded as one of the most influential women in the world, others' reactions can't always be predicted - as she discovered after the 2013 Met Gala.

She attended the event for the first time that year, while pregnant with her first child, North. She wore a long floral gown with a thigh-high slit, designed by Givenchy.

Speaking to US Vogue in a video looking back on her most notable looks, Kim said, 'I was very pregnant, very puffy, and bloated and I was like, "Oh god, of course the first time I go I'm gonna be huge."'

She says she never imagined she'd be able to attend the exclusive event, so was thrilled when she was able to go as Kanye's plus one. But her excitement turned to horror when she saw how the public had reacted to her couture gown.

She says, 'I was crying, like, the whole way home because I just couldn’t believe it. There were all these memes about me and this couch.

'I think Robin Williams even tweeted it, said I looked like Mrs. Doubtfire. It was like this whole thing, so I just cried.'

While some made fun of Kim's gown, others loved it. She adds, 'I just remember the Olsen twins came up to me and loved my outfit and my gloves so none of the critics mattered because the Olsen twins approved.' And how does she feel about the dress now? 'Now I love it, now it's sick.'
