Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reportedly hired a private team of firefighters to ensure their $60 million home was protected from wildfires in California this week, saving their neighbours' homes in the process.
TMZ is reportingthat the couple made the call as the fire spread towards their Hidden Hills home, forcing them to evacuate.
As the house is in a cul-de-sac, there was a danger that fire could easily spread from their home to neighbouring houses. People living in the area have been telling TMZ how grateful they are to Kim and Kanye for hiring a team to employ fire-prevention tactics such as digging ditches to create a fire break.
In true Kim Kardashian style she kept her fans abreast of developments, tweeting 'I heard the flames have hit our property at our home in Hidden Hills but now are more contained and have stopped at the moment.'
The evacuated Kardashian family attended the People’s Choice Awards, with Kim dedicating their Best Reality TV Show award to those who battled the fires.
'We would like to dedicate this win to all of the firefighters, police offers, and first responders.’
'As horrible as this has been, it's been amazing to see the spirit of everyone involved,' she told the audience.
'So anything that we can do to help the many organizations - no form of help is too small. We must continue to reach out and help each other in these trying times.
Kim also urged people to follow her family in donating to the California Fire Foundation.
