The Kardashian-Jenner clan have social media to thank for catapulting them from TV family to celebrity dynasty. Though on the flip side, it's no secret that they have received more than their fair share of negativity online.
Second-youngest sister Kendall Jenner has penned a piece, which she's posted her wesbite, titled “Staying Positive: My Outlook On Social Media,” explaining why she's decided not to let online hate bother her. "It's not you, it's them," she says.
The 20-year-old has captapulted to fame with her modelling career, and seen a meteoric rise in her online fan base as a result - she has over 43.3 million followers, and rising - but with the increase in fans also comes an increase in online haters.
Of letting the mean comments wash over her, she explains "I have to admit, I’ll randomly catch myself looking at comments on Instagram and Twitter, but the second I see a mean one, I literally just put my phone away and forget about it."
"When you’re being looked at under such a microscope, you try to be aware of what you post—you go over it a million times before posting to make sure it’s okay," she admits.
"So in reality, I know it’s not a bad photo, but someone’s going to say something mean anyway. They’re just bored. You just have to remember that it’s them, not you."
She says that she's learned to use the negativity to drive her on. "I’ve gotten to a place where the negative feedback can just totally fuel me to be even better," she says.
"I think that’s how my career got started in a way—like an ‘I wanted to prove them wrong’ kind of thing because no one ever thought I could do what I’m doing right now."
