Despite wearing an eye-catching Giambattista Valli couture gown to this year’s Golden Globes, it was Kendall Jenner’s face that got most of the attention on social media – and not for the best reasons.
A puny flare up of acne on Kendall's cheeks was all it took to get her name trending on Twitter. Quite why her bad skin day caused such a commotion is baffling, but it probably has something to do with the fact that as a top model (with not inconsiderable wealth) she is presumed to be exempt from the affliction that is dodgy skin.
She wasn't short of supportive messages, but one tweet in particular caught Jenner’s attention, reading ‘Ok but @KendallJenner showing up and strutting her acne while looking like a gorgeous star is what every girl needs to understand’.
Jenner responded promptly with ‘never let that shit stop you!’.
The model and KUWTK star was at the Golden Globes to support anti-harassment movement Time’s Up, telling Vogue ‘I’m excited to be there for the cause’.
Her apparent refusal to let a few pimples ruin a big night has obviously resonated with fans, serving as a timely reminder that getting spots – while unpleasant – is no big deal.
Jenner previously addressed her battle with acne on her blog in 2015, describing how it affected her self-esteem: ‘I wouldn’t even look at people when I talked to them. I felt like such an outcast; when I spoke, it was with my hand covering my face. Sure, I had crushes in high school, but I wouldn’t even think about looking at guys’.
