Fyre Festival, the most chaotic festival that never happened. We all remember when that cheese sandwich went viral in 2017. Before that, there was a lot of hype surrounding the festival - dubbed as the new Coachella - as influencers and models advertised what Fyre claimed would be the 'cultural experience of the decade'.

Now, three years on, reportedly Kendall Jenner has agreed to pay a £73,000 settlement over an Instagram post she shared promoting the festival{ =nofollow}, which she was paid £225,000 for.

Kendall was sued in August last year in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York by Gregory Messer who has been recovering money for investors and businesses who lost money from the event. In court documents obtained by TMZ, the lawsuit claimed that the money Kendall was paid amounted to a fraudulent transfer as she was paid to promote something organizers never pulled off. Documents further allege that her caption alluded that brother-in-law Kanye West would be performing at the festival (which obviously didn't happen).

The post also didn't specify whether it was sponsored or not, and the documents added that several influencers were paid by Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland to promote the event 'without indicating to their followers and the public that they were paid'.

It’s been reported the judge in the supermodel’s case has not yet signed off on the terms of the settlement.

And Kendall isn't the only famous face who has been sued over the disastrous festival, as other celebrities who have faced lawsuits include Emily Ratajkowski, Blink-182, hip-hop group the Migos, rapper Pusha T and Lil Yachty.

Billy McFarland, the co-founder of Fyre who was made infamous by two major 2019 documentaries, was convicted in March 2018 of defrauding more than $27 million from investors. He is currently serving a six year sentence in federal prison in Ohio after pleading guilty to two counts of wire fraud. Last month, McFarland petitioned the court for compassionate release due to Covid-19 - but this was denied by prosecutors.
