Keira Knightley and musician husband James Righton were spotted taking their newborn baby for a stroll around London. The 34-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean and Colette actress confirmed she was pregnant back in May when she appeared with her baby bump at the Chanel cocktail party in Paris. The photos show James – formerly of the band The Klaxons – pushing the buggy with Keira alongside wearing a loose fitting dress and holding a dummy in her hand.
The couple, who got married in 2013 in the south of France, welcomed their firstborn Edie, in 2015. Knightley gave a particularly honest account of her experience with motherhood back in January, when she discussed the joys and challenges in an interview with Balance magazine.
Acknowledging the difficulties she had in the past with paparazzi attention, the actress joked that that’s less of an issue now as “there’s nothing sexy about trying to control a three-year-old.” But she also revealed how she feels society does not “give women enough credit for the physical and emotional marathon they go through when becoming a mother.” She spoke honestly about how hard she was finding raising a child, talking about sleep deprivation, bodily changes and the change in relationship with her husband.
Knightley also recognised how her continued fame and success means her experience of motherhood is a different to many women around the world. She told Balance “I come from a place of amazing privilege. I have an incredible support system; I’ve been unbelievably lucky in my career; I can afford good healthcare.”

Back in 2018, the actress contributed an bold essay on childbirth and motherhood to Feminists Don’t Wear Pink and Other Lies: Amazing Women on What the F-Word Means to Them and was swiftly accused of “mum-shaming” the Duchess of Cambridge, after referring to Kate’s appearance on the steps of the Lindo Wing hours after giving birth to Charlotte in 2015. Knightley suggested her comments had been taken out of context and the point of the essay was to talk honestly about the messiness of childbirth and its immediate aftermath, not to shame the Duchess.
Keira and James are yet to reveal the name of the latest addition to their family but congratulations are in order!
