Over the past week a series of events have unfolded in the celebrity world involving Hiddleswift, Clavin Harris and Taylor’s enemy, Katy Perry. If you haven’t read a single article on the whole thing because you don’t give a shit, here’s a brief 20 second explainer, if now you do actually give a shit.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry used to be mates, and by mates I mean they used to tweet nice things to each other back in 2009. Then Taylor datied Katy’s ex, John Mayor in 2012 and Katy probably didn't enjoy this. Katy got pay back by stealing some of Taylor’s backup dancers for her own California Dreams tour later on in 2012, then things got really awkward cause Tay naturally had to write a song about it all. Fast forward to 2016, Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift dated, that ended and Taylor started going out with Tom Hiddleston, which may or may not be a showmance but who the hell knows. Taylor’s team released a statement saying she had co-written Rhianna’s ‘This Is What You Came For,’ and Calvin was NOT happy. So he tweeted the below.
And how did Katy Perry respond, you ask?
Then #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty started trending on Twitter and people got extremely creative.

Ok moving back to Katy Perry (that definitely took longer than 20 seconds, my bad) at 4.12am she released her new single, Rise, on Twitter. The official Olympics anthem has actually got a really great sentiment behind it, as Katy explained:
'I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is need for our world to unit. I know that together we can rise above the fear – in our country, and around the world.' The song is the first release of her new music since 2013. 2013 people, that’s a really long time.
Just want to say a massive bravo to Katy Perry for RISING above the whole Taylor Swift thing on Twitter and only sending slight shade (the best kind of shade) her way then releasing a new song a day later. Gold star for Katy.
