Katie Price was arrested last night (Thursday 8 August) after failing to attend a court hearing relating to her bankruptcies, but was bailed just hours later by an out-of-hours magistrate.
The former glamour model, 46, was apprehended at Heathrow Airport after returning from Turkey, where she is understood to have undergone a £10,000 facelift. She was photographed next to a police van wearing protective headwear and bandages for her surgery wounds, while her boyfriend, MAFS UK's JJ Slater, was snapped wheeling their luggage through the terminal. Katie's eldest son Harvey - whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Dwight Yorke - was also present at the time of her arrest.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: 'A 46-year-old woman from Surrey was arrested at Heathrow Airport at 7.45pm on Thursday, 8 August, for failing to appear at court. She has been remanded in custody at a west London police station to appear at the Royal Courts of Justice tomorrow, Friday, 9 August.'
The former I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star and mum of five was declared bankrupt for a second time in March over unpaid taxes thought to amount to more than £750,000. After failing to attend the court hearing, a warrant for her arrest was issued at the end of last month. Judge Catherine Burton said, 'It is in my judgment necessary that the court issue a warrant for Ms Price’s arrest. She has no real excuse in failing to attend today’s hearing. The reason for her absence today is irrelevant.'
Burton added that an arrest warrant was not issued 'lightly' but Ms Price had offered only 'piecemeal co-operation' and had failed to provide the 'most basic information' in relation to her bankruptcies.
Katie - who has several brushes with the law - previously insisted that she was 'not running from matters' but cited her trip to Turkey as 'work for a documentary on corrective surgeries'.
The reality star wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, 'I am aware that I am about to be detained at the airport which is obviously what the courts feel is necessary.
'I do hope of course for my son's sake who is with me that they will allow some dignity and protection for at least his sake as this will be extremely disturbing for him to see. Whilst I understand the importance and severity of the matter I do feel like I am being treated like a criminal.'
Katie Price is expected to appear at the Royal Courts of Justice today (Friday 9 August).
