As members of the royal family, you might imagine that Kate and Wills listen to Classical FM or Radio 4 on the school run. But you’re more likely to find them listening to Lizzo{
Yes, even though the station’s target audience is 15-29, the royals are a fan of R1 - even getting involved in the station’s Teen Awards, where the BBC celebrate inspirational young people from around the country. And last month, wth R1 host Clara Amfo and popstar Camila Cabello{
Proving that the royals do listen to the station, after the event, Greg revealed that the pair gave him a talking to after he made a joke about Charlotte shaking her teacher’s hand on her first day. Recalling his conversation with the couple, he said, ‘They said: “We were listening on the morning of little Charlotte's first day and we want to talk to you about the handshaking thing…” I went: “Oh God, no!” They'd heard me saying this school was so posh they had to shake hands with their teacher everyday.’
But now they are keeping their eyes - quite literally - on another person who was at the event: popstar Camila Cabello.
Speaking on Radio 1, the singer admitted that she stole a pencil while she was at the palace, ‘triple doggy dared’ by Greg to ‘steal something’. However, the theft has not gone unnoticed, as the Kensington Palace Twitter account responded with a eyes emoji to the interview. (Unsurprisingly, Greg thanked Camila for 'deflecting the Charlotte handshake news story.')
We doubt they’ll be too angry, though, as Camila said she was ‘honoured’ to meet Kate and Wills. And they must understand, surely? Who wouldn’t try and sneak away from the palace without a keepsake?! Even Olivia Colman, who is currently playing the Queen in Netflix’s regal drama The Crown, revealed that her husband swiped a toilet roll when the couple were attending a charity event at Buckingham Palace.
