Pippa Middleton’s wedding to James Matthews is now just a matter of days away, and it seems that the bride’s elder sister, Kate, is experiencing some pre-wedding jitters of her own.

Attending the first royal garden party of the year at Buckingham Palace, the Duchess revealed to one guest that she had some concerns about whether Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, two, will be on their best behaviour for the ceremony, in which they will take on the roles of page boy and bridesmaid.

Speaking to reporters after his tete-a-tete with the Duchess, attendee Andrew Bates told reporters that ‘[Kate] said that they were all really looking forward to her sister’s wedding at the weekend but she was a bit worried about how her children might behave.’

‘She said she was hopeful that they would be good but you never know at that age,’ he added.

The Duchess’s concerns will doubtless be familiar to any parents of young children with a special event to attend this summer, but given how well George and Charlotte have behaved at countless high profile events, we’re sure that her worries will prove unfounded.

Kensington Palace confirmed George and Charlotte’s roles in Pippa’s wedding ceremony, set to take place at St Mark’s Church in Englefield on Saturday, earlier in the year. It’s thought that, given her children’s parts in the proceedings, Kate will not be Pippa’s bridesmaid.

In the past few weeks, handfuls of intriguing details have emerged about one of this year’s most anticipated weddings. It was recently revealed that Pippa has asked for her guests (including Meghan Markle) to change into a second outfit after the church ceremony, and it’s now thought that the Middleton family have shipped in a huge glass marquee from Belgium. Set to be installed in their 18 acre grounds by Peppers Marquees, a company which holds the royal warrant to provide marquees to Prince Charles, this will be where the guests celebrate the wedding reception.
