Kate Middleton just made an appropriately regal Snapchat debut at Wimbledon, alongside tennis royalty Serena Williams.
After watching the semi-final match between Williams and Elena Vesnina this afternoon, the Duchess of Cambridge - a huge fan of the sport and a regular at Wimbledon's Royal Box - met up with the winning player, who naturally took to Snapchat to commemorate the occasion.
In the short clip, Williams says 'I'm in the in-crowd now. I'm with royalty!' as her phone pans over to a slightly puzzled-looking Duchess, who smiles at the camera before bringing Sophie, Countess of Wessex, into shot. Squad goals, anyone?
While Queen Elizabeth II is undisputedly the reigning monarch of social media, after her Insta-video with Prince Harry and two very regal tweets from Buckingham Palace's official account, Kate usually keeps her life firmly offline - although we can't help hoping that she'll now have a total change of heart and decide to share some flower-crown filtered selfies with us...
It's well-documented that Serena loves a good Snapchat filter, but in this instance, she decided to uphold royal decorum and refrain from adding 'LOL' stickers or super-imposing Kate's face onto a large loaf of bread - demonstrating truly admirable restraint.
For her first Wimbledon outing of the year, Kate opted to wear a sunny yellow shift dress by Roksanda, previously seen on her tour of Australia in 2014 - 'William said I look like a banana,' she laughed at the time.
Kate also revealed another adorable insight into her family life, telling former pro tennis player Greg Rusedski about Prince George’s love of the sport.
‘She talked about George, her little boy, playing tennis,’ he said, ‘He’s got a racket and he enjoys playing tennis, and obviously she plays with William […] So they obviously enjoy the sport very much.’
The Duchess was joined in the Royal Box by Dame Maggie Smith, aka Downton Abbey’s Dowager Countess, and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones). We can only imagine the conversation…
