Prince William and Kate Middleton's Westminster Abbey wedding was watched by an estimated 24 million people around the world on 29th April 2011, but the cameras weren't invited to the after-party, which took place at Buckingham Palace.
That's not to say, though, that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding reception was a low-key affair. Described by one guest as 'the most magical party imaginable,' the celebration (to which only the couple's inner circle of friends were invited) took place in the palace's Throne Room, with a live band led by Ellie Goulding providing the musical entertainment.
But how do the royal family do wedding discos? Was Prince Charles dad-dancing? Did the Queen act as mistress of ceremonies? As the couple celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary, here are a handful of tracks that made Kate and William's royal playlist...
1. Your Song
Ellie Goulding performed a cover of Elton John's 'Your Song' for the couple's first dance (a la the 2010 John Lewis Christmas advert). Discussing the experience with Vanity Fair in 2016, Goulding said: 'Talk about Scary. I was so nervous, my hands were shaking.'
2. You're The One That I Want
Who knew that the royals were such fans of a good Grease medley? At the time, one guest told The Mirror that 'the Grease number brought the house down. [The couple] stood holding hands in the middle of the dance floor grinning, then suddenly the opening bars of the song came booming out [...] Will and Kate began dancing around, pointing at each other and mouthing the words.'
3. Starry Eyed
Ellie also performed this song from her 2010 debut album, which was reportedly a favourite of the newlyweds.
4. Mr Brightside
A staple of student indie discos everywhere, this Killers track also made the cut for the royal playlist: Ellie Goulding and her band performed a cover as part of their set. I nev-eeeeer....
5. Superstition
Ellie also put her own spin on Stevie Wonder's classic. We're sure the opening bassline brought even the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh onto the dancefloor...
6. Sex On Fire
Surprisingly, this Kings of Leon track was the last dance of the night (before Prince Harry led a bus of revellers onto an after-party at Clarence House...)
