If your LinkedIn profile is currently languishing unloved and out-of-date with a years-old graduation mugshot and hundreds of unanswered requests, you might want to consider giving it a quick spruce-up: the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry are hiring a communications specialist, and – endorsements at the ready - you can apply on the very same social media platform.

The royals are currently recruiting for a Senior Communications Officer, a role which will entail ‘work[ing] both reactively and proactively to manage the daily news flow to the media, ensuring items are accurately and positively reported and received by audiences via traditional, digital and social media,’ as per the job description posted on LinkedIn by (deep breath) the Households of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and HRH Prince Henry of Wales.

The successful candidate will work on the communications strategy for The Royal Foundation, the main charitable vehicle for the Duke, Duchess and Prince, as well as responding to press enquiries.

In order to be in with a chance of mingling with Kate, William and Harry on a semi-frequent basis, though, you’ll need more than just an encyclopaedic knowledge of Prince George’s best outfits, an ability to instantly recall the names of every single corgi and an appreciation of nude court shoes from L. K. Bennett. The job description asks for ‘extensive experience within a marketing, media or PR office, with a relevant degree (or equivalent qualification) and, ideally, have experience of working within the charity sector.’

‘The ability to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion at all times’ is flagged as an ‘essential requisite.’ Alas, that means that if you did end up crossing paths with say, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, live-tweeting the proceedings would certainly be frowned upon.

If you still fancy your chances, the position is still open for applications. May the odds be ever in your favour...
