It has been confirmed today that Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting their third child together!
Kensington Palace released a statement this morning spreading word that 'their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child.'
The Royal couple will have a lot on their plate, already being the parents to 3-year-old Prince George and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte. Despite this, 'the Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.'
It’s been a big few weeks for Will and Kate- the announcement falls just a few days after the 20th anniversary of William’s mother, Princess Diana’s death. On a lighter note, Prince George is due to have his first day at primary school, Thomas’ Battersea. The proud parents announced that they will be walking their only son up to the school gates on Thursday. However, with the news of pregnancy it is unsure whether Kate will make it.
Like the last two pregnancies, Kate is suffering from acute morning sickness, also known as, Hyperemisis Gravidarum. This has resulted in the pair having to announce the pregnancy earlier than planned, after having to cancel an appearance this morning. The Kensington Palace statement delivered the news that “her Royal Highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London today”.
Now comes the exciting question of whether the new royal baby will be a boy or girl… However, due to a succession law passed by Commonwealth leaders back in 2011 giving equal right to the throne, the royal baby’s gender has less irrelevance than it would have had previously. Whether the baby is a boy or not, (s)he will no longer be able to displace Princess Charlotte in inheriting the throne… bad luck mate.
