Visiting the London Ambulance Control Room in Croydon on March 19th, Kate Middleton and Prince William emphasised the enormous importance of supporting NHS staff during the ongoing health crisis. With workers fielding up to five times more calls than usual, the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge were keen to show their support; wearing a chic blush M & S suit, Kate’s outfit proclaimed support for the British high street – and, making the most of her wardrobe, she paired the outfit with silver BOSS heels which she’s had since 2016.
It’s the second time that Kate’s chosen the classic retailer for public outings in recent weeks, having worn a pair of green-striped M & S trainers to SportsAid’s event on February 26th. Her choices are sending clear signals, while their cheering colours transmit a powerful message of optimism. Echoing the Queen’s recent message of stoicism, delivered as we all adjust to a world which looks different every day, Will and Kate aren’t the only royals seeking to reassure the nation – last week, Meghan and Harry committed to sharing tips for staying healthy under quarantine at @SussexRoyal.
Addressing staffers at the Croydon centre, William underscored the crucial reciprocity of every citizen’s relationship with healthcare providers and coordinators. ‘It’s at times like this when we realise just how much the NHS represents the very best of our country and society – people from all backgrounds and walks of life with different experiences and skills, pulling together for the common good’, said William. ‘Not only are NHS staff and emergency workers responding to the needs of the public, they – like the rest of us – are concerned about their families, friends and loved ones. They need our support as much as we need theirs.’
