Sisters-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex arrived at Wimbledon this afternoon to cheer on Meghan Markle’s close friend (and royal wedding guest) Serena Williams as she plays Angelique Kerber in the women’s singles final.
Though Kate is still officially on maternity leave following the birth of her third child Prince Louis back in April, the dedicated tennis fan (and official Wimbledon patron) made an exception for her favourite sporting fixture. Though the pair have previously attended events together with their respective husbands, Princes William and Harry, their outing to the All England club marked Kate and Meghan’s first royal engagement as a Duchess duo. Before heading to the royal box, they met with ball boys and girls, and attended a lunch with former Wimbledon ladies champions at a special lunch.
The Duchess of Sussex stayed true to her relaxed signature style in a breezy striped shirt by Polo Ralph Lauren, paired with wide-legged trousers in cream (also by the US brand) and a panama hat by Maison Michel. Those looking to recreate Meghan’s summer look will be pleased to note that the blue and white ‘Bengal’ shirt, previously priced at £109, is currently reduced to £54.50 in the brand’s summer sale, and is also available in a bold red colourway. It's the second time this week that the Duchess has opted for Ralph Lauren, having previously worn their olive green shift for Prince Louis's christening on Monday.
Kate, meanwhile, wore a printed tea dress by one of her go-to designers, Jenny Packham, paired with nude heels and a classic frame handbag. Polka dots have become the Duchess's Wimbledon style signature: last year, she wore the a Dolce & Gabbana dress in the same print while watching Andy Murray compete.
