Kate Middleton Just Recycled A Dress That Meghan Markle Has Also Worn

In her quest to prove that the royals are ‘just like us’, Kate Middleton frequently re-wears clothing that she has been photographed in before. Case in point was last night’s black lace long-sleeved gown by Diane von Furstenberg (it’s called the ‘Zarita’ dress, if you’re a copy-Kate), which she wore to the Anna Freud National Centre gala at Kensington Palace. The Duchess had previously worn the dress during her second pregnancy with Princess Charlotte back in 2014, which goes to show that she’s clearly a fan of debuting her baby bump in DVF.

Royal-watchers were quick to notice that the dress is awfully similar to one worn by Kate’s potential sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, except being the sassy, right-on American that she is, she opted for it in a shorter slashed-to-the-knee length, in navy.

Amusingly, Meghan wasn’t such a fan of the look, citing it as a fashion faux pas to Glamour: ‘I was going to this event and there was this D.V.F. lace dress with a zipper up the back, and it was so fitted, and had tea-length sleeves… I bought one in navy and black. It was too tight, and too short, and my hair was too polished, and everything about it was trying too hard.’

The two royal WAGs aren’t known for having a similar sense of style: while the Duchess of Cambridge is known for her refined wardrobe of British designers, as well as a penchant for skinny jeans, cosy knitwear and Sebago boat shoes in her downtime, the Suits actress has an altogether more modern taste in fashion, making her ‘official’ debut with Prince Harry in ripped jeans and a tongue-in-cheek blouse called ‘the Husband’.
