Kate Middleton is going to make an adorable appearance on Blue Peter tonight, where she will be awarded a green Blue Peter badge. The royal is appearing on the show as part of her ongoing campaign to help encourage kids to enjoy the outdoors. She has also teamed with the CBBC show to launch a competition where kids can design a sculpture to go in her Chelsea Flower Show Back to Nature garden when it’s installed at RHS Wisley in September.
‘Even a short amount of time — 10-15 minutes outside — makes a huge difference to both physical well-being but also to our mental well-being.' she says on the show.
In the cute segment which will air tonight, Kate helps kids create plant pots from Wellington boots and takes part in a race to build a den. She also goes pond-dipping - looking for newts and frogspawn - which she says is ‘massively up [her] street’.
You can watch Kate at 5.30pm on BBC1 tonight.
The Duchess previously told Monty Don about the inspiration for the garden, saying, 'I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for young children. I really hope that this woodland that we have created really inspires families, kids and communities to get outside, enjoy nature and the outdoors, and spend quality time together.'
