Two celebrity weddings, both alike in famousness, gathered in France this weekend to get married and do a fair bit of sweating, it’s assumed. In the south of France, Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner tied the knot for the second time with Jonas Brother Joe Jonas. And a little cooler up north, Zoe Kravitz and Karl Glusman married in Paris.
On the same day that temperatures in the country broke records by reaching 45.9 degrees, a who’s who of modern celebrity attended each wedding. At Sophie and Joe’s, Maisie Williams played maid of honour duties for her on-screen sister in the now-finished fantasy series Game of Thrones, while Joe’s groomsmen included brothers Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Frankie Jonas (remember him?!) a bunch of pals and, um, his husky dog, Porky Basquiat, who, on this sunny day, was wearing a literal tuxedo. Nick’s wife, Priyanka Chopra, was also in attendance, of course. Diplo, who attended the couple’s Las Vegas wedding, did an Instagram story from Avignon, but that’s about it.
Kit Harington, who was spotted in London with wife Rose Leslie, very much wasn’t there to see his former co-star and on-screen sister Sophie get married, but he is out of rehab, which is all in all A Good Thing.
Marrying at the £5,000 a night Chateau de Tourreau near Avignon in the south of France, in actual 40 degrees, this was Sophie and Joe’s second, and perhaps more formal, ceremony after they had a quickie wedding in Vegas after the Billboard Awards in the city in May.
As for Zoe and Karl, they got married at Zoe’s dad Lenny Kravitz’s Paris home in the west of the city, where temperatures reached 34 degrees.
Enjoying the cool marble interiors of Lenny’s abode were Zoe’s Big Little Lies co-stars Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Nicole Kidman, who is Lenny’s ex-fiancée. Her husband Keith Urban, was also there, alongside other celebrities such as Denzel Washington, Chris Pine and Eddie Redmayne. Zoe’s mum Lisa Bonet was there with perhaps the only person who might have had an outside chance of a scheduling conflict with the Turner-Jonases’ wedding - her husband Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Without giving too many spoilers, though, in case you’re still to watch, Khal never quite makes it to meet Sophie’s character Sansa Stark, so they’re hardly going to be big pals IRL.

And in an Olsen twins’ worth of black clothing, Cara Delevingne and girlfriend Ashley Benson strode in to the wedding. Let’s hope there was one of those naff ice luges on hand to bring everyone’s temperature down to something as cucumber-y cool as both events seem to have been!
