New York Fashion Week may not officially kick off until tomorrow, but Former Vice President Joe Biden’s daughter, Ashley, decided to launch her new hoodie line last night. The two-piece collection, which is produced in conjunction with Gilt, her pal Aubrey Plaza and her charity Livelihood, is the very definition of normcore. Minimalist with no frills, it’s, ‘inspired by the extraordinary spirit of everyday people’.
There’s an understated hoodie, which is available in six colours, for £95.41 and a front-zip sweatshirt with long drawstrings and thumb holes, priced at £106.13. All proceeds from the unisex line will be invested in under-resourced U.S. zip codes, which is something dear to Livelihood’s USP. In particular, the money will go to education drives, vocational training and job placement services.
‘Livelihood is bout celebrating the resiliency in under-served communities (the artists, the entrepreneurs, and the innovators), supporting them as they work to advance social and economic justice,’ said Ashley.
The 35-year-old social-worker-turned-designer hosted political heavyweights, like her dad, and NY glitterati like Olivia Palermo and Christian Siriano at the launch event last night.
