Former Vice President quickly gained Internet stardom as his well-documented bromance with Barack Obama inspired a series of infectious memes.
Ever since, the politician has well and truly cemented his position as Instagram's greatest icon with users following his every move.
And earlier this week, he entertained the masses once more despite sidekick and best ‘bro’ Barack being otherwise occupied.
Biden gave a speech on Wednesday to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act and nobody could have anticipated what happened next...
The former Vice President finally met his biggest fan (no, we couldn't make it unfortunately).
A four-month-old golden retriever named Biden travelled to the capital to meet his hero. Sydney, the pup’s owner told BuzzFeed News: “I named the dog Biden just because he is probably my favourite politician and favourite elected official.”
Knowing that the former Vice President was scheduled to speak at the event, Sydney decided to introduce her puppy to his muse.
Sydney revealed to Buzzfeed News: "As soon as he [Joe Biden] saw the dog during the actual speech, he pointed at the dog, tapped his friend and then started like cracking up. Right towards the end, I, like, kind of signaled him, and he, like, gave me a wink to come over."
According to Sydney, Biden’s face ‘lit up’ when he learnt that he inspired the dog’s name.
She explained: “He started kissing the dog, which is like exactly what I expected Biden would do.”
And the Internet reacted as expected:
The four-month-old pup quickly gained followers on his newly launched Instagram account thanks to the viral meeting.
Watch out Joe, there's a newbie on the block.
